LA JOLLA. A juice shop that actually has good food? You need not look further than Juice Kaboose! Juice Kaboose boasts a large variety of vegan sandwiches, bowls, platters, and snacks. Nestled into a cozy section of downtown La Jolla, it is the perfect place to grab a quick snack or meal!
We started with the vegan Hummus Sandwich. Home made hummus, avocado, tomato, spinach, and alfalfa sprouts are served on perfectly toasted whole wheat bread. You can tell this creamy hummus is home made. Add some fresh vegetables and you have a simple yet delicious lunch!
Next up was the Garden Quinoa Bowl made from quinoa, black beans, lettuce, cabbage, parsley, carrots, tomatoes, avocado, red onions, and salsa. Remember to order it without cheese to make it vegan! The quinoa and black beans give substance to this bowl while the parsley, onion, and salsa add depth to its flavor. It’s a great option for a healthy and quick meal.
If you’re just looking for a quick snack, Juice Kaboose has you covered. With a variety of bars, nuts, and other assorted foods, there is sure to be something for everyone. My most recent favorite snack has been Barnana’s dehydrated banana pieces.
Juice Kaboose has a wide variety of juices. One of my favorites is the Green Thing made from parsley, celery, cucumber, carrots, and spirulina. The juice has a beautiful green color and tastes sweet (thanks to the carrots). I was on the verge of getting sick when I drank this juice and credit the veggies with helping me to ward off the germs!
Don’t miss out on Juice Kaboose’s great smoothies. They are all fresh and made with ingredients ranging from peanut butter to pitaya. One of my favorites? Ma’s Fresh which is made from fresh banana, strawberries, pineapple, and orange juice. A great smoothie to drink while enjoying the warm, San Diego sun. You can also add a free “nutropep” to each smoothie. Juice Kaboose’s vegan nutropeps include fun things like flax powder, spirulina, and ginseng. With so many options, there’s sure to be a smoothie each person will love!
Juice Kaboose’s interior is mostly filled with their kitchen and juice machines. There are a few stools available at the counter for patrons, but the main seating area is outside. It’s a great place to sit and enjoy the weather.
Next time, you’re in La Jolla, I suggest stopping in at Juice Kaboose for a drink or a snack! You won’t be disappointed.
